I let mine have pillows at 2 yrs of age, mostly because they all TOSSED so much it would just end up in a ball in the corner of their cribs/toddler beds and that made me nervous.

they all had very light weight breathable baby blankets when they were old enough to sit up on their own. a quilt wasn't used till they were a yr old and only in the dead of winter...i live in Texas, it's not that cold here usually.

They both started laying on pillows around a year. Neither like heavy blankets over them, just a light fleece blanket is all they need.

My son is 7 months now and we started him with a light blanket just recently. He is about to sit himself up, stand up himself in his crib, cruise around the sides of it.. he even tries to climb! I think 1 year is a good standard.. but I think you have to look at your baby's development and figure out when they are really ready for it. I don't imagine I will be using a pillow until he is in a toddler bed though.

They never did. I gave them a duvet and a pillow when they moved into a bed. Why buy a special cot size quilt for just a few months of use, if that?

They're not supposed to sleep with bedding until they're about a year old. I think we started a little early with my daughter, but not much. She had blanket sleepers that worked just fine till it was safe to give her a blanket.

My LO started to use a pillow just in november there, around her first birthday, because she had a bad cold and it helped to raise her head a little. Shes had it ever since.
I got her her first duvet/quilt last week (16mths old) after she vomited all over her blankets! Its so cute, her cot is like a proper wee bed now. She sleeps very well with pillow and duvet.

I heard you could use them from 1yr as long as there were no physical developmental delays, and that baby could sit, stand, move around easily etc. I reckon most babies would be fine by 9 or 10mths but I just didnt bother as the blankets were fine.x

Both my kids have had a blanket since birth, They've never had a duvet though. My daughter started using a pillow when she switched to a toddler bed, and it was the thinnest one I could find. She's now 4 and just recently started sleeping with a slightly thicker pillow.

My son is 13 months and only still has a blanket, he sleeps on his stomach so there's really no need for him to have a pillow yet.
He'll get one when he switches to a toddler bed too.
